In the 1600s the Timoleague Friary was under threat from both sides during the Battle of Kinsale - those taking part in the rebellion against those loyal to Queen Elizabeth. In 1642 it was burned down by Cromwellian soldiers never to be rebuilt. That was definitely worth a stop!
